We've got TPG nbn setup guides for popular third-party modems. If you don't have nbn, you'll need to check your modem manufacturer's website for a guide on how to enter the TPG Broadband Settings.
To get started, select your nbn® service:
Don't know which type of nbn you have? Check the email from us about your TPG order.
You'll need to plug in your modem and change some settings to get it working with TPG nbn FTTC.
- First, make sure you’ve got a message from us asking you to plug in your nbn modem. We need to get your connection ready on our side before you plug in.
- Find your phone wall socket and nbn Connection Device (NCD) – you probably already have a modem plugged in from your last internet service. Unplug any old modem from the NCD and power outlet.
If your NCD is missing, please call us on 1300 023 575. -
Use the Ethernet cable to connect your modem’s yellow LAN 4 port to your NCD's yellow Gateway port.

Use the power cable to connect the Power port on your modem to a power outlet. Press the modem's Power button to turn it on.
- To connect devices to the WiFi, you'll find the default WiFi name and password on your modem's barcode sticker.
- If you have extra Ethernet cables, you can connect up to 3 devices to your modem’s other yellow LAN ports.

Open your web browser and go to: https://192.168.1.1 or https://www.router.asus.com

Log in with the default username "admin" and default password "admin" on your modem's barcode sticker. If you have custom login details, use those instead.

Select Advanced Settings > WAN > Dual WAN.

Set Primary WAN to Ethernet WAN | LAN Port 4.

Hit Apply.

Hit the Internet Connection tab.

Set WAN Connection Type to PPPoE.

Change Enable WAN to YES.

In PPP Username and Password, enter your TPG username and password.
Your TPG username can be found in emails from us about your TPG order. If you've forgotten your password, reset your password. -
If you have a bundled nbn & phone plan: Go to Advanced Settings > LAN > IPTV. Set ISP Profile to Manual. For Internet VID, enter 2 and for PRI, enter 0.

Hit OK and you're good to go.

Find your nbn Connection Box (NCB) – this is usually installed on the inside of an exterior wall in your home, sometimes in the garage. Unplug any old modem from the nbn Connection Box and power outlet.

Use the Ethernet cable to connect your modem's LAN 4 port to your NCB's UNI-D1 port.
The message from us will tell you if you need to use a different UNI-D port. -
Use the power cable to connect the Power port on your modem to a power outlet. Press your modem's Power button to turn it on.
- To connect devices to the WiFi, you'll find the default WiFi name and password on your modem's barcode sticker.
- If you have extra Ethernet cables, you can connect up to 3 devices to your modem’s other yellow LAN ports.

Go back to the Internet Connection tab.

Set WAN Connection Type to PPPoE.

Hit Apply, then OK. You're now good to go.

- First, make sure you’ve got a message from us asking you to plug in your nbn modem. We need to get your connection ready on our side before you plug in.
- Find your phone wall socket – you probably already have a modem plugged in from your last internet service. Unplug any old modem from the phone wall socket and power outlet.
- Use the phone cable to connect your modem’s blue DSL port to your phone wall socket.

Use the power cable to connect your modem's Power port to a power outlet. Press your modem's Power button to turn it on.
- To connect devices to the WiFi, you'll find the default WiFi name and password on your modem's barcode sticker.
- If you have extra Ethernet cables, you can connect up to 4 devices to your modem’s yellow LAN ports.

Hit Apply.

If you have a bundled nbn & phone plan: Enable Tagged VLAN. For VLAN ID, enter 2, and for VLAN Priority, enter 0.

Set Internet Connection to Username/Password Connection (PPPoE).

If you can't get calls on your TPG Voice service, these steps will help you identify the issue.
TPG Voice is a VoIP phone service that works over the internet.
- Is your phone service still new? If it was only ordered recently, we'll send you and email and SMS when it's ready to use.
If you're moving an existing phone number to TPG: After your internet is connected, it can take another 5 days to transfer your number. During this time you'll be make calls using a temporary number, but you won't get calls. -
Is your internet working? Your phone service can't work without internet.
You can check your address for an internet outage or planned maintenance on our Network Status page. - Find your modem and make sure your phone and all cables are plugged in securely and not damaged.
You’ll need to replace any broken or chewed cables. If your phone is damaged, please replace it or contact the seller for a warranty claim.

Make sure your phone has power.
Wireless phones may have batteries that need to be recharged or replaced. -
Turn off your modem’s power outlet for at least 5 minutes.

Turn the outlet back on and wait for your modem’s Internet light to come on, then see if you can get a call.
